CHLOE AMEARA SETS THIRD NATIONAL RECORD AT WORLD AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR VANUATU

Thursday 12th December

Chloe Ameara of Vanuatu capped off her successful run at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Budapest by setting a new national record in the Women’s 100m Individual Medley. Competing in the demanding event for the first time, Ameara swam an impressive 1:25.47, breaking her country’s national record. Earlier in these championships Chloe also set national records for the Women’s 50m and 100m Backstroke.

The 100m IM, which includes Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle, proved to be an exciting challenge for the 23-year-old swimmer. Reflecting on her performance, Chloe expressed satisfaction with her debut in the event, commenting, “It was good. It’s my first time racing that event, so I think it was ok for the first time.” Her enthusiasm for the 100m IM was evident as she added, “I thought it would be quite a fun event, I like doing really long race courses. I like the 200m IM, so the 100m IM sounded like it could be fun.”

Chloe’s time in Budapest has been nothing short of remarkable. Along with her national records, her overall performance at the championships saw personal bests in each of her races. “I think my races went pretty well. I was quite happy with my times and definitely got PBs, so yeah, it’s definitely been a good competition”.

As the competition came to a close, Chloe was eager to explore more of Budapest. She shared, “I’m looking forward to hopefully meeting lots of the other countries and seeing if I can trade pins or little souvenirs. Also, visiting the Christmas markets sounds exciting!”

Chloe’s performances at the World Championships have truly showcased her talent and determination, marking an exciting chapter in her swimming career.
